Andrew Schmidt, DO, MPH
Manager, SurfER
I am a board certified, academic emergency medicine physician with a practice focus in pre-hospital medicine. My areas of interest in education and research are drowning resuscitation, water safety, critical care, trauma, and pre-hospital medicine. I have over 2 decades of experience with open-water lifesaving as a lifeguard, instructor, and medical director. I also have over a decade of experience in developing remote learning and continuing education for learners ranging from first responders to physicians.
Given my experience and technological know-how, I am able to deliver innovative and engaging education to meet the needs of any medical topic and audience size, as well as consult on topics like pre-hospital logistics and protocol development. Additionally, given my expert knowledge of drowning physiology and resuscitation as well as many areas within water safety, I am able to deliver top-notch consultative services on local, regional, national, and international water safety practices and serve as an expert witness on cases related to drowning, water safety, and emergency medicine.
